Ala. Police Officer Critically Injured in 2017 Crash Dies

An Alabama police officer who was critically hurt in a 2017 car crash died of complications from those injuries last month

In February 2017, Montgomery Police Officer Carlos E. Taylor was responding to a call to assist an officer when his unmarked cruiser collided with another vehicle. The crash happened when Taylor crossed into another lane to avoid hitting a vehicle.

Taylor suffered a traumatic brain stem injury in the crash, and he was a quadriplegic and unable to verbally communicate after the incident, the Montgomery Advertiser reports. He was under constant care until passing away June 30 at the age of 29.

"(Taylor) will forever be remembered and will always be part of the Montgomery Police Department family,” Chief Darryl Albert wrote in a news release.
