June 10--Shootings on the city's South, West and Southwest sides have left four people dead and seven others injured since midday Monday.
The toll includes two woman fatally shot in the Ashburn neighbhood Monday morning, as well as the man believed to have killed the two and them himself. An 18-year-old man was injured in the same shooting.
In another fatal shooting, someone in an SUV opened fire on a parked vehicle in the 7300 block of South Perry Avenue in the Park Manor neighborhood about 10:55 p.m.
Two people inside the parked vehicle were hit, police said. A 21-year-old woman was pronounced dead at John H. Stroger, Jr. Hospital of Cook County after the shooting, police said. It was not immediately clear where in the body she was struck.
A man believed to be in his 20s was also hurt in the shooting. The man was shot in the back and the leg, police said. He was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, and his condition was not immediately known.
The SUV fled northbound after the shooting, police said.
The most recent shooting happened about 11:30 p.m., in the 7700 block of South Peoria Street in the Gresham neighborhood. A 35-year-old man told police he was walking down the street when he heard shots and realized he was hit in the knee, police said. He was listed in good condition at Saint Bernard Hospital and Health Care Center.
About 11:15 p.m., a 21-year-old man was shot in the back in the 3100 block of West Monroe Street in the East Garfield Park neighborhood.
The man was unable to tell officers what had happened, police said. He was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, but his condition was not immediately released.
About five minutes earlier, a 27-year-old man was shot in the 1800 block of West 58th Street about 10:50 p.m., according to police. Police said the man was shot in the arm and leg, but information about his condition and where he was taken for treatment was not immediately released.
Hours earlier, two men were wounded in afternoon shootings.
Someone shot an 18-year-old man about 1:25 pm. in the 4800 block of West George Street in the city's Cragin neighborhood, according to Police News Affairs Officer Ana Pacheco.
The man was walking when he heard shots and felt pain because he had been shot twice in the right arm and once in the back, Pacheco said. He was taken to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center where his condition had stabilized, the officer said.
A separate attack happened about an hour earlier, in the West Englewood neighborhood about 12:35 p.m. in the 6700 block of South Marshfield Avenue, News Affairs Officer Thomas Sweeney said.
A 23-year-old man was shot in the torso when three people approached him and one started firing, Pacheco said. He was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in critical condition, Pacheco said.
