A man the Fond du Lac Sheriff's Department says assaulted a deputy has turned himself in.
The Sheriff's Department alerted the media it was looking for 22-year-old Colton O'Brien of Eden on Thursday morning. By early afternoon he turned himself in, according to a department news release.
The Sheriff's Department had already arrested a 19-year-old Campbellsport man Wednesday in connection to an incident Saturday morning in which the suspect took a deputy's electronic control weapon and fled the scene, according to a news release.
Police said O'Brien struck the deputy multiple times before fleeing.
Police say the deputy initially observed the two men, along with a third man, involved in drug activity behind a vehicle about 1 a.m. Saturday on Elmore Drive in the Town of Ashford.
When the deputy announced himself, the men fled. The deputy attempted to stop O'Brien with an electronic control weapon, police say, and O'Brien resisted arrest, striking the deputy and reaching for the weapon.
The 19-year-old Campbellsport man then took the stun gun and pointed it at the deputy and both men fled the area, police say.
The Campbellsport man in custody, whose name has not yet been released, is accused of disarming a police officer, restricting/obstructing and possession of an electronic weapon.
O'Brien faces charges of disarming a police officer, battery to a law enforcement officer and resisting/obstructing.
