Va. Deputy Wounded in Accidental Shooting at Agency Gun Range

A Loudoun County sheriff's deputy was rushed to the hospital and underwent surgery after being wounded in an accidental shooting at the agency's gun range in Leesburg.

A Virginia deputy was wounded in an accidental shooting at the agency's gun range Thursday.

The incident happened just before 8:30 a.m. at the Loudoun County Sheriff's Office Firing Range and Training Center in Leesburg, WJLA-TV reports. No details were released of how the accidental shooting happened or the nature and severity of the deputy's injuries.

The deputy was rushed to the hospital in stable condition. Surgery was scheduled for surgery.

The shooting is under investigation.
