April 7, 2021 – San Diego, CA: The Board of Directors for the California Police Athletic Federation (CPAF) has announced the US Police & Fire Championships (USPFC) will be hosted in San Diego County from June 10-19, 2021. USPFC is an Olympic-style competition for first responders and public safety personnel. While the 2020 Championships were canceled due to COVID, USPFC is working with state and local officials to confirm venue availability and ensure appropriate policies and procedures are in place to meet the region's prescribed COVID protocols. Some competitions may not be offered in 2021 due to the restrictions that may still be in place for in-person events in June.
What began in 1967 as the "California Police Olympics," USPFC has grown into the first responder community's premier athletic competition. The event draws thousands of athletes representing law enforcement, firefighter, emergency medical technician, custom and correctional officers, as well as full-time employees (active and retired) of an eligible agency or organization in the capacity of 9-1-1 dispatcher, detention-custodial officer, crime scene investigators, or lifeguard. The Championships allow athletes to compete in 50 sports across 35 venues in the greater San Diego County.
"We are delighted we can once again welcome athletes representing the law enforcement and public safety communities to San Diego for USPFC," said Larry "LC" Collins, President, Board of Directors, California Police Athletic Federation. "We know the pandemic has been incredibly taxing on the first responder community, which is why it is even more critical we can host USPFC 2021. Our athletes have been telling us how hungry they are to compete again and enjoy camaraderie through sport and wellness."
Registration is now open for USPFC 2021. For more information, visit www.USPFC.org.
