The Grover Beach Police Department apprehended a driver believed to be under the influence after a brief pursuit that ended with a crash into an Arroyo Grande sports complex Sunday.
According to a post on X by the Grover Beach Police Department, officers responded to a report of a reckless driver in the Vons parking lot on Grand Avenue on Sunday evening.
Officers responding to the incident located the pickup truck near South Oak Park and Mentone avenues, according to the post.
From there, the driver proceeded into Arroyo Grande, attempting to flee officers before crashing into a fence at the Soto Sports Complex, according to the post.
The Police Department shared video of the chase, including when the driver appeared to drive through the fence at the sports fields before finally coming to a stop partway down a walking path.
"This is a solid reminder to have a plan, designate a driver and know your limits," the post read. "We are grateful no one was hurt in this incident."
The driver was arrested by the Arroyo Grande Police Department for allegedly driving under the influence, according to the post.
