CLEVELAND – A man was arrested Saturday night (April 27) after police said he left his 10-month-old girl unattended in a parking garage while he was inside the casino at downtown Cleveland.

Officers from Cleveland’s Third District went to JACK Casino, near Public Square, about 10:30 p.m. for reports that a toddler was alone inside of a vehicle. Officers found the child, alone and unharmed. Police did not say how long the girl was alone in the vehicle.

Paramedics transported her to a local hospital for a checkup, police said. The toddler was later released to her family.

The father of the child was arrested on suspicion of child endangerment and permitting child abuse, but he has not been charged as of Monday morning, according to police.

The incident remains under investigation.

Ohio’s casinos and racinos have signs that tell parents to avoid leaving children in cars as they gamble.
