Video: Ohio Police Fatally Shoot Man with Knife Outside RNC in Milwaukee

Columbus police, in Milwaukee to provide security at the Republican National Convention, were responding to a fight between two men at a nearby park when the shooting happened.

One person is dead after police shot and killed a man following a reported altercation just a mile away from the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee July 16.

Fellow Hearst outlet WISN-TV in Milwaukee, reports two men were fighting in King Park when Columbus, Ohio police officers showed up on the scene and shot a man with a knife. The ABC affiliate reports witnesses said the two men were startled by the large police presence that accumulated.

The Columbus Dispatch reports the local Fraternal Order of Police has also confirmed a Columbus officer delivered the fatal shot.

"More than 100 officers on bicycles, horses and on foot are visible at the scene. A van labeled as belonging to the city of Columbus was parked nearby," the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports. The newspaper also reports that 4,000 police officers from around the country are in Milwaukee to assist with the RNC's security.

Reports indicate the incident does not appear to be related to RNC festivities.
